About Me
​Cheyenne (Abrams) Malacara is a Lowcountry native who has had her share of living around the United States. She graduated from the College of Charleston ['19], obtaining a bachelor’s degree in communications focusing on journalism and marketing.
Cheyenne is currently the Content Marketing Coordinator at Charleston County Aviation Authority. Cheyenne has been taking lifestyle photos for eleven years and has pursued graphic design for eight. Aside from writing, designing, and photos, Cheyenne is also actively involved in her community, where she has been a part of Teen Institute, an adolescent drug prevention network, for twelve years.

CisternYard Media
oversaw the production of CisternYard News. Held meetings, gave story ideas, and led informational sessions to help members build skills in writing and journalism. The EIC held an active role in the organization as much as possible, whether that be on Slack, email, attending meetings, and reaching out to community officials for opportunities. Worked with the other editors and CYM staff in the production of The Yard magazine, which is published twice a semester. Overlooks the content going onto the website and magazine, reading and editing every post [or divided with Managing Editor] before publication.

The Kentucky Kernel
Wrote articles weekly to be printed/published for the University of Kentucky’s Student Ran Newspaper. Mainly covered features, current events, and reviews. Helped cover The University of Kentucky football and basketball games during their 2015/2016 seasons. Photographed and planned events for the Kernel as well as provide prints and copies of pictures for the newspaper and fashion magazine.

Pursued a degree in Journalism from the University of Kentucky during the first year of college. Wrote for athletic department and KyKernel, as well as photographed for newspaper and magazine. I transferred to the Charleston region after completing my second semester.
